La Valentía

"La Valentía"

Author: Alfredo Sanzol · Premiere: 12 January 2024

La Valentía tells the story of two sisters, Trini and Guada, who have inherited the house where they spent their childhood summers. It's a house they love, but it has one small problem: a motorway runs five metres from the front door. For Guada, the house matters more than the noise; for Trini, the silence matters more than the house.

Since Guada has decided to stay and live in the house, a desperate Trini hires the Espectro Brothers, a pair who run a business giving people terrible frights by posing as ghosts, to scare her out. Meanwhile, Guada, who needs money, has listed one of the rooms on Airbnb — and the first guests arrive: Martín and Martina, two very strange siblings who turn out to be real ghosts, the ancestors of Guada and Trini themselves, who built the house and have come back from beyond to defend it. Everyone converges on the house the same weekend, and that's as much as can be told.

In Sanzol's own words: "I like stories with humour, adventure and action that put the essential paradoxes of being human on the table. I'm a comic author with philosophical aspirations, much as there are many philosophers with comic aspirations."
